Inspirational Quote

"Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that." -Bill Shankly.

I saw this quote in a social media site and its by Bill Shankly. A legendary English football player who used to play for Liverpool FC.
The quote means alot because it shows how much people love the game and how passionate they are. For some people Football is not just a game its more than that.

Body language

A) In Saudi Arabia we do not use body language often. Most of the times we use hand gesture when some one is performing a speech. There is a physical contact when you meet people, which is cheek by cheek contact. For example, When you meet people, no matter you know them or not, you should do the cheek by cheek contact. The hand gesture are basic gesture which most of the people know.

B) Americans use body language a lot. but I do not think there is something strange in American's body language.

Why I chose my major

I chose Marketing as my major because it fits me mentally and because it relies on creativity which is something I like. Marketing is thinking in the other person's view and see what that person really looks for a product and how to convince him to buy it. consumers often look for products with creative touches that might convince them to buy the product.

When studying Marketing, Math is one of the main subjects you have to study in the major. And since Math is a quite difficult subject for me, this aspect is considered as a challenge. In Saudi Arabia, finding a job in any field is quite difficult. but you have a better chance of finding a job in a private company rather than a public company but only if you have a high educated certificate. For me, finding a job in my major field is easy because, in my opinion, Saudi Arabia doesn't have many marketers.

As a conclusion, Marketing is a major I am really interested in and I can not wait to begin my degree program and study a major that I really like and hopefully have a good position in my job in the future.

The best decision in my life

The best decision I have made in my life is studying in the United States. Studying abroad has made me more mature, I chose my own decisions without anyone's interruption. I've learned alot since I came to the United States. I've met new people and also I've learned from other cultures. One of the important things I've learned here is depending on my self. For example, cooking my own food or washing my clothes. I am sure that I will learn more in the future

Western Influence

Western Culture has influenced many countries all around the world in both positive and negative ways. In Saudi Arabia, there are positive and negative influences. One of the positive influences is Students who study abroad. they get high education in both the United States and Europe and get back to the country and help people with the education that they received while studying in western cultures. another influence which  helped me personally is most the English TV shows are showed on TV in English language and not being changed to Arabic, there is only Arabic subtitles on the bottom but the characters voice is in English. 70% of my English skills came from this influence since I loved watching TV shows when I was a child. There are negative influences such as fast food, American fast food restaurants are everywhere. at every street you can find at least one McDonalds restaurant.
This reflected on becoming one of the countries that has high obese percentage.

TOEFL/IELTS Preparation // Big tests in my country

(A)
United States universities need TOEFL or IELTS test scores to enroll to the university. Most students get overwhelmed and stressed while they are preparing for those tests.
I personally studied from YouTube since many teachers who have been teaching English for a long period of time make videos on how to prepare for the test. They provide helpful methods and ways to answer those difficult questions with some easy steps on their videos. I also used Long-man's TOEFL preparation book, which was quiet helpful. My only advice that I would give is always use methods while answering because it makes all the questions seem easy.

(B)
In Saudi Arabia you need to get high score in some tests so you can enter university. There are two type of tests in Saudi Arabia, The first type is called "Qudurat", this test measures your ability to analyze questions and how your education basics are. The test has two parts, the first part is math and the second part is Arabic. the average score most students get is 65-70% while the score most universities need is 80% and above.

The second test is called "Tahseli" which is taken after the student graduates from highschool. This test measures your knowledge background and basics since you started highschool. For alot of students this test is more difficult than the Qudurat test because it has Math, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and English. To study those two test you need to study for a long time. People spend alot of money buying preparation books and registering for preparation courses since those two test determain their future.

Differences betweet my life in the US and in my country

Life in my home country is different from my life here in the United States. In my home country Its okay and safe to go out alone or with someone in midnight. but here in the United States, its not safe. Also in my home country, I was not the one responsible of washing my own clothes or even cooking. but it changed since I arrived to the United States. Also gasoline prices here in the United States are so expensive comparing it to my home country. For example, Filling up a full tank of gasoline in the Unites States costs around 30-40$, and filling up a full tank of gasoline in my home country costs about 7-9$. These are some differences between life in the United States ans life in my country.
